The main activity of the ABSA is, in accordance with international norms and regulations, to apply the unified requirements system covering all aspects of biological safety to prevent working with materials affected or suspectedly affected by pathogenic microorganisms.
The Assosiation implements the following tasks to succeed on this:
a) to study microorganisms and safety methods to handle with products of biological processes and to master the application methods
b) to establish relations with international associations and organisations on biological safety
To fulfil the obligations indicated in the charter the society carries out the following:
- to recognize biological safety in microbiological and infectious pathology as an independent science; to familiarize experts with international standards on biological safety;
- to assist in draft preparation of modern regulations on biological safety, considering international standards on microbiology, laboratory diagnostics, virolgy, parasitology and infectious diseases.
