Welcome to Macreddin Rock Bed & Breakfast

Macreddin rock is a friendly, family-run Bed & Breakfast situated in a beautiful country landscape, just 3.5 km from the National Award winning and picturesque village of Aughrim. It is an ideal base from which to appreciate local history and heritage, to enjoy local activities and attractions and to savour the beauty of the county of Wicklow.

A quite townland, nestled under Cushbawn Mountain, it may seem amazing the important part Macreddin played in the political life of our land in days gone by. It was one of the few 17th century Plantation towns established in Leinster. It had a castle on site, was the Headquarters of a Military Deport & Borough and had the privilege of returning two members to the Irish House of Commons in College Green Dublin. Also, near to Macreddin Rock stands the ruin of St. Bridget’s Church, which dates back to the 18th Century and was once a curacy of Rathdrum. The twice yearly fair at Macreddin brought traders from all over the province and the faction fights, which were part of the event, lost nothing in the telling in local folklore. Today the area is enhanced by the presence of the Brook lodge Hotel and the spectacular Paul McGinley designed Macreddin Golf Course and with many of Wicklow’s most famed attractions nearby.
